The nice thing about studying in Holland particularly in the ISS is that there are so many other international students who are also away from home. Here in the US, we really feel the difference. During the semester break like this, most of the students will leave campus to be with their family. We the minority, family-less international students, are left behind. I suppose we can be merry on our own, but since there are not a lot of us it does not feel quite as merry as when we were in Holland.
There are two most popular activities of the international students in Holland during the holiday break: having Christmas party and traveling in group. And this is also another benefit of studying in Holland: there are so many beautiful holiday traveling destinations in Europe! Europe cities are beautiful, but they are extra pretty during the holiday. The streets are filled with lights and Christmas ornaments, and the town squares are turned into festive Christmas markets and ice rinks. You’ll get the holiday cheer even though you’re far away from home.
Want to see how it looks like? Here are some photos from our winter holiday break in Vienna and Salzburg, two gorgeous cities in Austria. Enjoy!
